Based on the 2005 movie of the same name, this sitcom picks up where the film left off, and now that Nick and Suzanne have been married for six months, growing pains are beginning to emerge in their blended family. Suzanne's two kids would rather hang out with friends or play computer games than connect with Nick, whose own mother isn't thrilled with his marriage or her new role as grandma. Meanwhile, Suzanne's brother Terrence is very protective of his only sister, and he uses every opportunity to remind Nick that he'd better be good to her.
Nick plans a surprise belated honeymoon and uses work to cover up his plans.
When Lindsay tries to turn family members into stars of a reality television show, Kevin makes a discovery that brings too much reality to the Kingston-Persons household.
Suzanne and Nick go on a "People's Court TV" show when Nick lies about having spent a gift card Suzanne gave him, which she finds and spends on herself, calling him on his lie.
When Lindsey accompanies Suzanne to work and meets an old friend of her mother's; a misunderstanding causes Lindsey to believe she may have an older brother that she never knew about.
